Anyway, Fujimi has now released a cute/super deform version of the Type 10 as part of their Chibimaru line. I passed up Fujimi's more serious 1/72 scale versions of the tank because that isn't a scale I normally build (well, when I actually build anything). The chibi version, on the other hand, is just too darn cute and weird to pass up. Funds are a bit tied up right now because of two upcoming Azone PN pre-orders but after that, I think I'm going to switch gears to modeling mode and order one or more of these neat little tanks.
Meanwhile, the 1/35 scale version already stashed away in my closet has a potential future as the main battle tank for one of my fictional countries in a doll/action figure back story I have in mind.

ReplyDeleteI know nothing about tanks, but my dad collects miniature models. Out of his collection I find I usually like the tanks most. :D
Maybe I should start watching the Girls und Panzer -anime to combine my love for cuteness and tanks, haha! ;'D
I liked Girls und Panzer but I found I had trouble staying with it. I really need to try and watch it again since I was watching during a period of "happy chaos" in my life last year and I'm sure that contributed to my inability to focus. While there are some utterly ridiculous aspects to the story, it's all done with a wink and a nod. There are also some very good technical aspects and the characters aren't just your usual collection of dumb "Moe blobs" with amazing latent talents. Miho in particular, is not Yui from K-on in spite of some physical similarities.
ReplyDeleteAs far as liking tanks, what can I say? I've loved 'em since I was a little boy, although a tendency towards claustrophobia and motion sickness makes me ill-suited to have ever been a tank crew member. My fascination was really set in motion by a trip to the Patton Museum at Ft. Knox KY when I was a kid. Sadly, much of that collection was dismantled and moved to Ft Benning GA as part of a stalled new museum project and it's currently sitting in a storage lot without ready public access.
Spica, if you ever get chance to see it, your own home country's widely-admired tank museum at Parola has one of the most unique collections in world. Definitely worth a visit if that sort of thing is interesting to you.
Wow, thanks for the info! I'll be sure to find out more about Parola, and maybe ask if my dad would like to come with me there sometime. It sounds really interesting! :) I know little to nothing about technical stuff, but I admire the way tanks look, there's something majestic about them. I quess that's a really girly thing to say, haha. :D

These could be utilized awesomely for photostories... I think pulled back shots of these guys in action would be awesome!
ReplyDeleteI was also thinking of the potential as war gaming miniatures. Sure, there are better scale items in most popular war game scales but the cartoony aspect is what appeals to me.
